Stream Team
The mission of the Stream Team is to shorten the time a work-item travels along an Agile Stream by resolving impediments as soon as they are discovered within a Sprint.
A Stream Team is empowered by the organization to remove impediments. The team members are committed to resolving impediments immediately and have a direct influence on Agile Stream touchpoints.
A Stream Team has two types of members:
- Permanent members include the Stream Owner, Scrum Masters, and Product Owners of the Agile Streams they support.
- Transitional members include Stream Influencers who are invited by the Stream Owner to join the team during experiments or until the Agile Stream is self-organizing.
Stream Influencers are executives, managers, and individuals that have authority within the organization to resolve issues related to work crossing organizational boundaries. Their access to touchpoints reduces wait times and gives them an advantage in taking swift decisions and actions to support the daily operations of agile teams.
A Stream Team can serve two to nine agile teams within the same Agile Stream. Their primary responsibilities include:
- Streamline operations by resolving impediments for teams when they happen.
- Sequence removal of impediments to maximizing value for customers.
- Delegate power to teams and de-centralize impediment removal.
- Partner with stakeholders to permanently remove obstacles and lower organizational drag.
Within Agile Stream Framework, all Stream Team members should be able to ask anyone, along the Agile Stream, to pause their work and address the impediment of the day.
